AirNav Ireland Overview

Our Company

AirNav Ireland is a commercial semi-state company employing approximately 600 people at six locations around Ireland.

AirNav Ireland has one primary function, which is to provide air traffic management and related services within the 451.000km2 of airspace controlled by Ireland. To facilitate this, we employ over 200 air traffic controllers in Dublin, Cork and Shannon and 50 radio officers in Ballygirreen, Co. Clare to ensure the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic.

Our Purpose

Safety is our business and underlines everything we do. AirNav Ireland operates to the highest international safety standards set by;

  • the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO);
  • European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA);
  • EUROCONTROL;
  • the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC);
  • the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA);
  • the European Union (EU)

These guide AirNav Ireland in ensuring that Irish civil aviation operates to the most stringent safety standards. In 2023, AirNav Ireland continues to maintain its strong position on the ICAO league for effective implementation (EI) of global aviation standards, with a current EI score of 95.06%, which places Ireland in the top 10 states globally and in second position among EU Member States where the average is 83.79%.

AirNav Ireland receives no state funding, our revenues are generated through charges and fees raised from its airline customers.
