Week 1 traffic

17 January 2024

2024 kicked out with 169,476 flights across the European network, an increase of 4.88% compared to the same time period in 2023 and 99.0% of 2019 for the year to date.

Our Shannon area control centre, which looks after flights that transit Irish airspace but do not land, handled 8,663 movements, an increase of 15.50% compared to 2023 and 109.85% for the YTD versus 2019.

Dublin area control operated 4,541 flights, an increase of 4.75% compared to the same time period in 2023 and 105.70% for the YTD versus 2019. 

Our radio officers in our North Atlantic Communications centre handled 9,085 movements, an increase of 10.40% compared to 2023 and 107.30% of 2019 for the YTD.

In regards to terminal traffic, Cork handled 398 movements, an increase of 4.04% compared to 2023 and 104.00% for the YTD compared to 2019. Dublin handled 4,409 flights, while Shannon handled 364, a respective increase of 4.18% and 6.40% compared to 2023 and 109.70% and 104.60% for the YTD versus 2019.
