AirNav Ireland reports €12m surplus in 2025 amid record air traffic levels

24 April 2026

AirNav Ireland has published its 2025 Annual Report and Financial Statements, reporting a profit after tax of €12 million on turnover of €210.7 million. The Board has proposed a dividend to the Exchequer of €4.8 million in line with its dividend policy that takes account of shareholder expectation

As an island nation, Ireland is heavily reliant on aviation to support connectivity, economic activity, trade, tourism, and regional accessibility. The safe and efficient management of Irish airspace is therefore critical to the functioning of the wider economy and to Ireland’s position as an open, internationally connected economy.

During the year, AirNav Ireland managed more than 708,000 Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flights in Irish‑controlled airspace, a 4.3% increase on 2024, reflecting sustained growth in demand for air navigation services. In addition, the organisation provided voice communication services to over 560,000 flights in North Atlantic Oceanic airspace, an increase of 4.4% year on year.

The Company is funded from charges to airspace users and performance and efficiency remained a key focus. AirNav Ireland ranked fifth in Europe for horizontal en‑route flight efficiency (KEA), demonstrating continued strong delivery in a complex operational environment. For the second consecutive year, the Company achieved CANSO Green ATM Accreditation at Level 3, an internationally recognised, independent endorsement of its structured and embedded approach to environmental performance.

To support increasing operational demands and future capacity requirements, the Company continued to focus on recruitment, particularly student air traffic controllers, engineering and compliance roles.  Average headcount increased to 677 staff while average air traffic controllers in training increased to 36 students. The Company also continued to promote diversity and gender representation across the workforce through a range of diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives.

Commenting on the results, Chairman Bryan Bourke said 2025 was marked by record levels of air traffic, the commencement of a new regulatory period, and continued progress in strengthening AirNav Ireland’s long‑term resilience.

“Throughout the year, AirNav Ireland remained firmly focused on safe and reliable service delivery in an increasingly complex operating environment, while continuing to invest in the foundations required to meet future demand,” he said.

Chief Executive Gerald Caffrey said that AirNav Ireland plays a central role in ensuring Ireland remains safely and efficiently connected to the rest of the world.

“Our responsibility is to ensure that Ireland’s airspace is managed safely, efficiently, and reliably - today and into the future. By supporting our people, listening to our customers, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and governance, AirNav Ireland is well positioned to meet the challenges ahead,” he said.
